Movies for the weekend of May 8

Yes. It is likely that I will see the new Star Trek movie this weekend. Plans have already been made.

But, in addition to Star Trek, there are many other movies I'm looking forward to--check it out:

Diary of a Country Priest is playing at the IFC Center this weekend. Not only do I love Bresson, but I've always enjoyed my evenings at the IFC Center. They have great seats (large and comfy) and sell awesome t-shirts (someone please buy me the Fassbinder t-shirt!) Now all they need is better food; arthouse-ier food (read: brownies and wine in addition to popcorn and soda.)

Divorce Iranian Style is playing at MoMA on Friday at 8pm. I've been wanting to see this movie for years (and I haven't been able to find it on DVD). And now, here it is!

Finally, this series from the Film Society of Lincoln Center looks pretty interesting: Forbidden Catalan Cinema Under Franco. Some of the screenings will be introduced by Underground Spanish Cinema scholar Marti Rom.
