Weekend of June 5

I'm a little torn this weekend.....
One one hand, I would love to go to the Film Forum to see Roshomon. I really, really want to see Roshomon, in fact. I've never seen it, you know and this is a new 35 mm restoration. It runs through June 11.
On the other hand, Jia Zhang-Ke's 24 City opens this weekend at the IFC Center. I'm always a little amazed and dazed after a Jia Zhang-Ke movie. It also runs through June 11.
Do I have time to see both?

In other news, start getting ready for the Human Rights Watch International Film Festival.
It starts on June 11. I can't say Im familiar with too many of the festival offerings--just the Costa Gravas film rings a bell. Many of them look pretty interesting--I'm actually most interested in seeing Ford Transit which looks like it will frustrate the hell out of me.

Empty Pockets Alert: I Named Her Angel at the Brooklyn Museum First Saturdays. I expect there will be many more Empty Pockets alerts in the near future--those summertime free outdoor movies are coming soon.
